Highlights from our first meetup.
We had about 25 people show up for the first San Diego GTUG meetup held at Gocipher's offices in Kearny Mesa. We discussed google wave, android, saw a presentation on how to host on appengine and a look at a freshbooks/ appengine/ google maps mashup. Michael Martin also did a cool presentation on monetizing mobile applications.

Free Hosting on App Engine

 - Freshbooks, App Engine, Google Maps Mashup:
The result of a two day hackathon with python/django produced this very cool app that lets you plot contacts on a google map. The app is hosted on appengine and I hear the latest version now takes advantage of the new tasks queue. Uses the Google Maps API for geocoding addresses and even has an import from Freshbooks feature. It's now open source!

 - Google Wave Hackathon
Sign up at google wave then e-mail me to get your name on the wave hackathon list. Several members have already received their wave logins. After you get your account, email me your wave username to sam@sd-gtug.org so I can add you to the wave where we'll be discussing wave :-)

Thank you all for coming to the first San Diego GTUG :-)
