San Diego Google Technology User Group (SD-GTUG) Message Board › New Group Organizer?

Is anyone interested in being the group organizer for SD GTUG? Or should we let the group die? Maybe under a new organizer we could get more meetings going?
I'd be interested in co-organizing it if someone else is interested? David |

Hi David,
I jumped in before seeing your comment. I would really enjoy your help as a co-organizer. I have been meeting informally with a small group of Python devs to hack on App Engine. I am thinking about starting SD-GTUG back up with regular (weekly) co-hacking sessions for anyone who can make it. We'll see where it goes from there... Let me know what you think. More soon... I would definitely like to bring some more life into the San Diego GTUG. I joined after this year's Google I/O but it seemed like there weren't any active participants.
I generally work with Android and AppEngine as well. Lets start setting up some meetings! David |

Excellent. I propose meeting every Thursday night for a co-hacking session. I have been meeting with a small group at UCSD on Thursday nights - it's a great location with the exception of parking. Parking is available, but costs a few bucks/night.
On the second Thursday of every month, I attend an excellent SD Django meeting. I assume (and recommend) that most of the Python developers in SD-GTUG will also want to attend that meeting. In that case, we will need someone who is not interested in SD Django to lead the weekly co-hacking session on the second Thursday of each month. You said you're working with Android and AppEngine - are you a Java developer? What do you think about Thursday night meetings? What do you think about UCSD as a location? Mike |

That sounds good. I will plan to start attending on Thursday nights as well. A few bucks for parking isn't such a big deal.
Maybe we can see if someone else is interested in conducting the meeting on the Thursday where the SD Python group meets. I can volunteer, but honestly I'm looking to pickup some more Python myself. I use it sparingly (mostly Java and Ruby here), but we can work that out once the group starts to get some more momentum Thanks, David |
